Choosing
Which Beer Spa to Book
Book the Széchenyi beer spa if you want the beer spa and a full bath day in one booking. On dates we checked in late October 2026 it cost $101 per person for the 45-minute session alone and $157 with a full-day Széchenyi ticket added. That is $4 more than buying a $52 weekday Széchenyi ticket separately, and the bundled ticket comes with fast-track entry and a private changing cabin. Our review →
The Lukács beer spa is the calmer alternative at $117, or $151 with Lukács bath entry, and it adds a hot sandwich and a cup of hop tea. Our review →
What a beer spa actually is
It is not a tub full of beer. You sit in a private wooden tub of warm thermal water infused with hops, malt and beer salts (Lukács calls its blend brewer’s salt), and the beer is in a copper tap beside you. For 45 minutes you pour as much Hungarian draft beer as you like, and a private, lockable changing cabin is included so you can arrive in city clothes. Reviewers describe it as more relaxing than they expected, with one noting how soft their skin felt afterwards and another that staff let them fill a last glass at the end.
The session is short. Count on about 75 minutes at the venue once you add the briefing and changing, which is how the Lukács operator plans it.
Széchenyi or Lukács
The Széchenyi beer spa has the longer track record, rated 4.4 from 94 reviews. Its pull is the building around it: with the bath option you get the outdoor thermal pool at 36 to 38 °C and a day ticket valid until closing. The beer spa opens at 10:00, and the operator asks you not to arrive earlier. Towels are not included (about 5,000 HUF on site), and slippers are compulsory, so bring your own.
The Lukács beer spa is rated 4.6, but from only 5 reviews, so there is less to go on. It is the better-fed option: a freshly made hot sandwich (Hungarian-style or mushroom, chosen on the day) and a non-alcoholic hop herbal tea after the soak are included in every booking. It also sells a guided ice bath add-on, a 30-minute supervised cold plunge at 6 °C with breathing coaching, taken before the beer spa. If you add Lukács bath entry, that ticket runs from 11:00. Two things to know about Lukács itself: its wellness Finnish sauna and private bath service are currently closed for renovation, and the bath shuts at 19:00 except on Tuesdays, when it stays open to 22:00. Our Lukács tickets page covers the bath in full.
Should you add bath entry?
Add it if you have the afternoon free. On the Széchenyi beer spa, the bath option costs $56 more and covers a whole day in the pools. On the Lukács beer spa, the $34 step up is a few dollars less than the $37 Lukács day ticket bought on its own.
Skip it if you are squeezing the beer spa between other plans, or if you have already done the bath on another day. The session alone is an hour and a bit, door to door. If you want to compare the two baths before deciding, see Széchenyi vs Lukács.
At Széchenyi, remember the house rules if you go on to the pools: a swim cap is compulsory in the swimming pools, slippers are required throughout, and towels and robes are sold on site, not rented. The bath is open Monday to Thursday 7:00 to 20:00, Friday to 22:00 and weekends 8:00 to 20:00, and ticket sales stop an hour before closing. More on that in our Széchenyi tickets guide.
Who it suits
Couples and small groups of friends get the most out of it, because you share a room and a tap, not a pool full of strangers. It is a popular stag and hen activity for the same reason, and the fixed 45 minutes keeps a group on schedule. The Lukács operator pitches it at solo travelers too, as a slow hour after a day of walking.
The beer is served to adults only, and the Széchenyi listing marks the session unsuitable for anyone under 18 and for pregnant women. It is not a family outing in any case: under-14s are not admitted to Széchenyi or Lukács. For a bath with children, Palatinus on Margaret Island is the one with family tickets and children’s pools.
If what your group really wants is a night out in the water, the Sparty runs on Saturday nights at Széchenyi from 21:30 to 2:00, for over-18s with photo ID. On a Saturday you could do both: the beer spa in the afternoon and the party after dark.
What to bring
Swimwear and slippers for both. A towel, unless you are happy to buy one on site. If you are adding Széchenyi entry and plan to swim laps, a swim cap. Payment at the public baths is by card, as the shops and cafés do not take cash.

What Guests Say About the Beer Spa
Ratings and review counts are the ticket sellers' live figures on GetYourGuide and may shift slightly day to day.
"A really fun and relaxing experience; considering we didn't know what to expect, but the beer spa was very calming and it was fun to have draft beer on tap right next to us! Changing space was a little small but otherwise everything was great."
"A very novel way to spend an hour or so. We didn't do the main spa but it was worth the journey there just for the beer spa. Would recommend, especially after looks of walking & sight seeing."
"We booked the beer spa with Széchenyi add on & absolutely loved it! The beer spa was one of our favourite experiences during our time in Budapest. Skin felt so soft afterwards. Loved that you could pull unlimited pints for the full experience time & the staff even let you fill up once more at the end. The private changing rooms are a great addition & having access to the spa afterwards was great too!"

"My friends and I had an amazing experience at the BeerSpa. We were provided with a private locker for the day and had 45 minutes to enjoy unlimited beer while relaxing after walking a lot the previous days around Budapest. I would highly recommend this experience and adding on Széchenyi."

"A truly unforgettable experience. I highly recommend it."

"The Beer Spa was amazing! I loved the experience, the attention to detail, and the excellent service. Everything was well explained and thoughtfully organized. I highly recommend it—it’s definitely worth it! 🍻✨"
"Beautiful place, variety of baths and saunas. Friendly and attentive staff."

"This was such good fun! It actually made our trip as we had such a laugh. The staff were so friendly and helpful. I enjoyed the cold beer and I don’t even drink beer. We will definitely go back again one day"

Beer Spa FAQ
Short answers about the tubs, the beer and the bath tickets.
No. The tub holds warm thermal water infused with hops, malt and beer salts. The beer is in a tap beside the tub, and you pour unlimited Hungarian draft for the 45-minute session.
On dates we checked in late October 2026, the Széchenyi beer spa was $101 per person, or $157 with a full-day Széchenyi ticket. The Lukács beer spa was $117, or $151 with Lukács bath entry.
Only if you pick the bath option. The basic ticket covers the 45-minute session and a private changing cabin. Both operators sell a version with full-day bath entry, which works out close to buying the bath ticket separately.
No. The beer is served to adults only, and the Széchenyi listing marks the session unsuitable for under-18s. Under-14s cannot enter Széchenyi or Lukács at all. For a family bath day, see Palatinus.
It works well for small groups: you share a private room and a tap, and the fixed 45 minutes keeps the day on schedule. For a late night in the water, the Sparty runs on Saturdays at Széchenyi for over-18s.
Swimwear and slippers, which are compulsory in the bath area. Towels are not included; the Széchenyi beer spa sells them on site for about 5,000 HUF. Arrive 20 minutes before your slot for the briefing and to change.
