Choosing
Which Luxury Spa to Book
For a quiet, polished spa afternoon, book Mandala Day Spa. On dates we checked in late October 2026 it started at $54 per person for three hours in the pools, with the fuller packages at $70, $81 and $100. It is rated 4.6 from 3,518 reviews, by far the largest review base of any spa here. Our review →
If you want the luxury version of a historic thermal bath, the Széchenyi Palm House pass at $123 is the one to look at. Our review →
Mandala is a modern day spa, not a historic bath
Mandala is a roughly 1,500 m² oriental-style day spa at Ipoly utca 8 in District XIII, open daily from 10:00 to 20:00. Think exposed brick, candlelight, lanterns and a chandelier over the pools, not domes, columns and a century of history. Its listing describes four pools at different temperatures, a jacuzzi for ten people, a steam cabin for eight and a Finnish sauna for twelve, plus a relaxation area with armchairs, a heated marble bench and a bar. It does not describe the pools as thermal spring water, so if soaking in Budapest’s mineral water is the point of your trip, pick a bath instead.
What you get in exchange is calm. Reviewers keep coming back to how clean and quiet it is, and one guest who found it smaller than expected still noted how few people were there. It is adults only, and the listing marks it unsuitable for under-16s and pregnant women.
Which Mandala package to pick
All five packages give you three hours of bath time. The basic ticket is entry only, without towel or slippers. VIP adds towel, slippers and a glass of champagne. Relaxing adds a robe and 20 minutes in a zero-gravity massage chair. Peeling adds an aroma peeling to use yourself, and Delicate Pleasures adds a light sushi or salad lunch. If you go basic and forget something, extras are sold at the spa: a towel is 2,000 HUF, slippers 1,000 HUF and a robe 4,300 HUF, so it is simpler to book a package that includes them.
For a full massage, Mandala sells a separate 60-minute massage with four hours of bath time, and a couples’ massage with private jacuzzi time. Both are on our spa and massage packages page.
The Palm House: luxury inside Széchenyi
The Palm House is a tropical greenhouse lounge with palms and loungers inside Széchenyi, with its own hours: 9:00 to 18:00 Monday to Thursday and 9:00 to 19:00 Friday to Sunday. The pass includes a full-day Széchenyi ticket with a cabin, a robe and towel, disposable slippers and a swim cap, one cocktail, unlimited mineral water and a fruit bowl, and you enter through a separate gate. At $123 it is $71 more than a weekday locker ticket, but Széchenyi does not rent towels or robes, so the kit is part of what you pay for. It is rated 4.3 from 30 reviews. Massages are not included, and the old package that bundled a massage has been discontinued. Under-14s are not admitted. For the standard tickets, see Széchenyi tickets.
The hotel spas: Margaret Island and Helia
The Margaret Island day spa at the Ensana Thermal hotel is the cheapest way into a quiet spa with thermal water: $43 on the dates we checked, rated 4.3 from 559 reviews. The ticket includes towels and access to five pools, among them a thermal pool, and the saunas; robes are extra. Three things to know before booking. Day tickets depend on how busy the hotel is. The outdoor pool only opens from 1 May to 13 September. And the spa is closed to non-hotel guests from 19 December 2026 to 10 January 2027. Our review →
The Helia day spa at the Danubius Hotel Helia, on the Danube bank, was $46. It has warm-water pools that are not thermal, men’s and women’s saunas, a steam room, a salt cave and a two-floor gym, with towel and robe included. At 3.9 from 24 reviews it is the lowest rated of the four, and one reviewer was disappointed to find no thermal pools. Our review →
Who each one suits
Mandala suits couples and friends who want a few hours of low light and quiet, and anyone who finds the big baths too busy. The Palm House suits a first visit to Széchenyi when you want somewhere calmer to retreat to between pools. Margaret Island suits a slower day with the island’s greenery around it, outside the holiday closure. Helia is best treated as a gym-and-sauna day on the river, not a thermal bath. If you are still weighing the public baths, start with the best thermal baths in Budapest.

What Guests Say About Mandala

"Really great location, was so relaxing and I was surprised we used all three hours there."
"Beautiful Spa, throughly enjoyed the experience it was very clean and well looked after and the staff couldn’t have been more helpful."
"I thoroughly enjoyed the experience overall. I also added a massage to my experience and it too was amazing. I would recommend this place if you are ever in Budapest."
"It was smaller than I expected, but not many people and overall great!"
"A very good spa. Obviously, there were people and a bit of noise, but compared to larger ones, it's fantastic."
"Couldn’t recommend this spa enough! The setting, the atmosphere and the facilities were just amazing. Everything was thought of, the staff were fantastic! Overall a really gorgeous spa experience!"

"Very Relaxing, could have stayed there all day. Would definitely recommend."
"Great atmosphere and visually striking. The photos are very accurate, the place looks even better in reality. We had a great time, 3h is perfect. The bar was great, you can get tasty food and good selection of cocktails. Only minus is that the shower and changing area is quite small, the heat from the showers and hairdryers turned the changing room into another steam room. The ventilation could not cope. Plus there were only 2 hairdryers."

Luxury Spa FAQ
Short answers about Mandala, the Palm House and the hotel spas.
No. Mandala is a modern, oriental-style day spa, not a historic bathhouse, and its listing does not describe its pools as thermal spring water. For thermal water with a luxury feel, look at the Széchenyi Palm House or the Margaret Island day spa.
On dates we checked in late October 2026, Mandala started at $54 per person for three hours, with packages at $70, $81 and $100 that add towels, a robe, champagne, a massage-chair session, a peeling or a light meal.
A full-day Széchenyi ticket with a cabin, access to the Palm House lounge, a robe, towel, disposable slippers and swim cap, one cocktail, unlimited mineral water and a fruit bowl. It was $123 on the dates we checked. Massages are not included.
Not as a day guest. The Ensana Thermal Margaret Island spa is closed to non-hotel guests from 19 December 2026 to 10 January 2027, and outside those dates day tickets depend on how busy the hotel is.
Mandala is adults only and its listing excludes under-16s. Széchenyi, including the Palm House, does not admit under-14s. For a spa day with children, Palatinus is the family bath.
Mandala, for its candle-lit pools and quiet. It also sells a couples' massage with private jacuzzi time for $325 per couple. More options are on our spa and massage packages page.
