How a Massage Package Works

Book the slot, then the pools are yours.

  1. Pick a date and start time

Massage packages are booked by time slot, so the therapist is ready when you arrive. Choose the slot in the live calendar.

  2. Bring only swimwear

At Mandala the towel, slippers and robe are provided. On Margaret Island towels are included and robes are extra.

  3. Massage, then the pools

After the massage, use the pools, jacuzzi, steam cabin and saunas for the rest of your bath time.

  4. Drinks at the bar

Tea and water are in the lounge. Cocktails, snacks and champagne are extra and paid for on the way out.

The Bath and Massage Packages Compared

Three packages include a massage; the Palm House does not. The difference is the water, the massage length and how long you keep the pools.

Choosing

Which Massage Package to Book

The simplest way to get a massage and a spa day on one ticket is the 60-minute massage and bath at Mandala Day Spa. On dates we checked in late October 2026 it cost $146 per person for your choice of massage, four hours of bath time and a towel, slippers and robe. It is rated 4.7 from 88 reviews. Our review →

If you want thermal water with your massage, the Margaret Island spa day with Swedish massage is $132. For two, the couples’ Swedish massage with jacuzzi time is $325 per couple, about $163 each.

Mandala: the easiest package

Mandala is a modern, oriental-style day spa at Ipoly utca 8, open daily from 10:00 to 20:00, not a historic bathhouse. After the massage you have four pools at different temperatures, a jacuzzi for ten, an eight-person steam cabin, a twelve-person Finnish sauna and an infrared sauna, with herbal tea, water and fruit in a candle-lit lounge. The package is private to your group of up to four, and the operator’s advice is to bring only swimwear. Reviewers single out the massage itself, and one noted the treatment rooms are brighter than in some spas. The listing marks it unsuitable for children under 12.

Margaret Island: thermal water and a Swedish massage

The Ensana Thermal Margaret Island package gives you the run of the hotel spa (pools, thermal bath, sauna, steam room and fitness room), a 20-minute aroma bath and a 50-minute full-body Swedish massage, with towels included. It is rated 4.3, but from only 10 reviews. Book your massage appointment ahead, as the listing asks. It is for over-18s and not suitable during pregnancy.

The big caveat is timing. The spa is closed to non-hotel guests from 19 December 2026 to 10 January 2027, and outside those dates day visits depend on how busy the hotel is. Our review →

For couples

The Mandala couples’ package is a 60-minute holistic Swedish massage side by side, 20 minutes of private bath and jacuzzi time, and four hours of bath entry. It is priced per couple, $325 for two on the dates we checked, and rated 4.7 from 32 reviews. One couple booked it for Valentine’s Day, and reviewers mention adding a glass of champagne. The listing marks it unsuitable for people with high blood pressure. Our review →

Massages at the historic baths

None of the Széchenyi, Rudas or Lukács tickets we review include a massage. The standard Széchenyi ticket lists massages as excluded, and so does the Palm House pass ($123). The Palm House used to sell a package with a massage, but that has been discontinued: massages are now bought separately. Our Palm House review →

Széchenyi does list classic massages on its own site, booked by phone on +36 20 260 9952 (or +36 20 434 8052 for complex bath treatments). We have not seen a current massage price list, so check the bath’s own site or ask when you call. At Rudas and Lukács massages are available from age 14. If you want the historic setting first and a massage second, book the bath ticket through our Széchenyi tickets page or Rudas tickets page and arrange the massage directly.

Planning the day

Give Mandala most of an afternoon. The listing puts the package at one to five hours: a 60-minute massage plus up to four hours in the pools. The spa closes at 20:00, so a slot after mid-afternoon eats into your bath time. The couples’ package is listed at about 1.5 hours for the massage and private jacuzzi, and the rest of the four hours of bath entry is yours to use. On Margaret Island the ticket is valid for the day, so fix the massage slot first and plan the pools around it.

Accessibility differs too. The Margaret Island package is listed as wheelchair accessible, while the Mandala couples’ listing says it is not suitable for wheelchair users. If that matters, ask the spa before you book.

Which one to book

Book Mandala if you want everything handled on one ticket and a quiet, low-lit spa afterwards. Book Margaret Island if the thermal water matters and your dates fall outside the holiday closure. Book the couples’ package for a shared treatment, and compare it with two single Mandala packages ($292 for two) if each of you wants to choose a different massage. For the spas without a treatment, see our luxury spas page, and for packing, what to bring to the baths.

"best hands that ever gave me massage, it was on point. amazing swimming pool, best way to start the day. my mom's back pain was all gone, super thankful for this experience"

Kris Israel

"The whole experience was fabulous. The massage was excellent and more than well worth the cost. The actual spa though is really nice. 4 pools ranging from a freezing plunge pool to a hot pool and the largest jacuzzi I have ever seen. There is a relaxing bar inside where you can buy a drink if you want one (you pay when you leave). I would definitely recommend this spa and would go afain"
