Only the Turkish bath at Rudas is split by gender. It is men-only on Monday, Thursday and Friday mornings and all day Wednesday, women-only all day Tuesday, and mixed, with swimsuits, on Monday, Thursday and Friday from 11:00 and all weekend. The swimming pool and the wellness area, with its panorama pool, stay open to everyone every day, so a couple can visit together on any day and simply miss the Turkish pools on the single-gender ones.

The Turkish bath schedule, day by day
This is the timetable on the operator’s opening-hours page, checked on 23 October 2026. The schedule can change, so confirm it on rudasfurdo.hu the week you go.
| Day | Men only | Women only | Mixed (swimsuit) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Monday | 6:00-10:45 | None | 11:00-22:00 |
| Tuesday | None | All day, 6:00-20:00 | None |
| Wednesday | All day, 6:00-20:00 | None | None |
| Thursday | 6:00-10:45 | None | 11:00-20:00 |
| Friday | 6:00-10:45 | None | 11:00-20:00 |
| Saturday | None | None | All day, 6:00-20:00 |
| Sunday | None | None | All day, 6:00-20:00 |
Read it this way. If you are a man traveling alone, every day works except Tuesday. If you are a woman traveling alone, Tuesday is your only single-gender day, and Wednesday is the one day the Turkish pools are closed to you entirely. For a mixed group, the windows are Monday, Thursday and Friday from 11:00, plus the whole weekend. Monday runs latest, with the mixed Turkish bath open until 22:00.
The Turkish bath itself is six pools at 16, 28, 30, 33, 36 and 42 °C. The operator suggests about 20 minutes in them at a time. Swimsuits are required in mixed sessions, and since nothing on the schedule says otherwise for the other sessions, pack one whichever day you go.
What is open to everyone on single-gender days
The gender split applies to the Turkish bath only. The rest of Rudas works on normal hours for all guests:
- The swimming pool, 20.5 m long and 29 °C. A swim cap is compulsory in swimming pools across the city’s public baths.
- The wellness area, with pools at 11, 32, 36 and 42 °C.
- The panorama pool at 36 °C, which the operator lists with a view of the Danube.
- The sauna world, open from 8:00 (to 22:00 on Monday, to 20:00 on other days).
The building as a whole opens at 6:00 every day and closes at 22:00 on Monday and 20:00 from Tuesday to Sunday. Ticket sales end an hour before closing, and the pools are cleared 20 minutes before closing. So a mixed couple on a Tuesday or Wednesday still gets a full day of hot water, a swim and the panorama pool. What they miss is the Turkish bath, which is the reason many visitors pick Rudas over Széchenyi in the first place.
Which ticket covers what
Rudas sells its tickets as separate products, and this is where people get caught out. On the operator’s 2026 price list, an all-zone adult ticket costs 12,000 HUF Monday to Thursday and 15,000 HUF Friday to Sunday (16,000 HUF in peak periods). A Turkish-bath-only ticket and a Wellness-spa ticket are sold separately, at 8,000 HUF each.
A Wellness ticket does not include the Turkish bath. That matters most for the Rudas day pass with a 3-course meal at Rudas Bistro, rated 4.2 from 1,397 reviews. The listing offers two kinds of option: a Wellness ticket that covers everything except the Turkish bath, or a full option with the Turkish bath and wellness. On dates we checked in late October 2026, a weekday Wellness option with the meal and a coffee cost about $84, the Turkish bath version with the meal and a coffee about $90, and an all-inclusive Turkish bath and dining option on a Saturday about $146.
The listing also says the Turkish bath option runs on Monday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday, and that spa use under the package is from 11:00 to 20:00. Those are exactly the mixed hours in the table above. If you want the Turkish pools, book that option for one of those days, and do not book it for a Tuesday or Wednesday. Our Rudas day pass review covers the meal and the options in detail, and Rudas tickets compares it with buying entry alone.
Night bathing on Friday and Saturday
On Friday and Saturday nights Rudas reopens from 22:00 to 3:00. Night tickets cost 15,000 HUF on the operator’s price list, are sold online only, and morning passes are not valid for them. The timetable does not mark night bathing as a men-only or women-only session.
If a late soak is the point of your trip, compare it with the other options in our guide to Budapest thermal baths at night, which also covers Széchenyi’s Friday evening hours and the Saturday Sparty.
Planning your visit around the schedule
A few practical points that follow from the timetable:
- Couples and mixed groups: aim for Monday, Thursday or Friday after 11:00, or the weekend. Monday is the longest mixed day.
- Women on their own who want a quieter Turkish bath: Tuesday is the women-only day, all day.
- Early risers: men-only mornings start at 6:00 on Monday, Thursday and Friday, with the change to mixed at 11:00.
- Weekend and Friday tickets cost more, and on public holidays Rudas follows the weekend schedule.
Rudas sits at the Buda end of Elisabeth (Erzsébet) Bridge, at the foot of Gellért Hill, at Döbrentei tér 9. The operator lists trams 19, 41, 56 and 56A and buses 7, 8E, 108E, 110 and 112. Two access points to know before booking: children under 14 are not admitted, and guests with reduced mobility currently cannot use the bath because the stairlift is out of service.
On-site payment at the city’s public baths is by card. Towels, robes, slippers and swim caps are not rented at Rudas, only sold, so our what to bring checklist is worth a look before you pack.
Rudas or Széchenyi?
If your dates fall on a single-gender day and you are traveling as a couple, it is worth weighing up Széchenyi, which has no gender split and stays open to 22:00 on Fridays. A Széchenyi day ticket cost from about $52 on a weekday on dates we checked. Our Széchenyi vs Rudas comparison sets the two side by side on price, pools and atmosphere.
