How a Palatinus Ticket Works

Four steps from choosing a date to the first soak.

  1. Pick the bath and the day

Weekday, weekend and peak days are priced differently. Choose a date in the live calendar and the ticket type: locker, private cabin, fast track or a morning ticket.

  2. Get your e-ticket

Confirmation and a mobile voucher arrive by email straight away. The voucher says where to exchange it at the bath; online tickets usually skip the walk-in queue.

  3. Wristband, locker, pools

Your wristband opens a locker or cabin. Bring a towel, slippers (compulsory) and a swim cap if you plan to use a swimming pool.

  4. Stay as long as you like

A day ticket is valid until closing. Ticket sales end an hour before closing time and the pools empty 20 minutes before it.

Choosing

Is Palatinus the Right Bath for You?

If you are bringing children, book Palatinus. It is the family bath on Margaret Island, with a child rate from age 3, family tickets and two children’s pools, while Széchenyi, Rudas, Lukács and Dandár all turn away anyone under 14. The Palatinus full-day admission was $30 on dates we checked in late October 2026, valid any day of the week with a cabin or locker. Our Palatinus review →

What Palatinus is like

Palatinus is a lido as much as a spa. In summer it is a big open-air complex under the trees in the middle of the island, with a 40-meter swimming pool, a wave pool, warm seating pools and slides. Indoors there is a healing pool at 36 °C, a hot and a cold plunge pool and a children’s pool at 32-34 °C. Reviewers call it clean, well organized and good value, with “a younger vibe” than the historic baths. One summer visitor’s complaint was the scramble for sunbeds, with towels left out to reserve them.

Winter or summer: which pools are open

This is the part that catches people out. Palatinus is open every day of the year, but not every pool is. The seating pools (32-36 °C) and the 40-meter swimming pool, reached through a heated corridor, are open year round, along with the indoor pools. The wave pool (which runs hourly from 10:40 in season) and the other outdoor leisure and adventure pools are summer features, so do not plan a November visit around them. From 19 October 2026 the bath is open 9:00 to 16:00 daily. The GetYourGuide listing says the venue closes at 15:00 in winter, so if you are cutting it fine, check palatinusstrand.hu on the day. Ticket sales end an hour before closing and the pools are cleared 20 minutes before.

Children: the rules and the prices

Ages 3 to 14 pay the child rate. The bath’s 2026 price list shows an adult full day at 3,800 HUF on weekdays and 4,200 HUF at weekends, a child at 2,500 / 2,800 HUF, a family ticket for three at 7,600 / 8,400 HUF and a family ticket for four at 10,100 / 11,200 HUF. The policy for children under 3 is not published, so ask at the desk. For under-14s, the healing pool and the plunge pools need a doctor’s prescription, so plan on the children’s, seating and swimming pools. A swim cap is required in the swimming pool, for children and adults alike. The listing also asks you to bring flip-flops and beachwear, so pack slippers for everyone.

The GetYourGuide ticket is an adult admission. If you are a family of three or four, compare it with the bath’s own family tickets before you book; the online ticket’s advantage is a fixed plan with free cancellation up to 24 hours before.

Getting there

Palatinus sits in the middle of Margaret Island. The bath lists bus 26 as its connection, plus a minibus in summer. The island around it is parkland, so a bath day pairs easily with a walk. With a 16:00 close in the cooler months, arrive near the 9:00 opening if you want a full day in the water. Lukács is a short trip away on the Buda bank if you want an adults-only soak another day; see Lukács tickets.

The alternatives

The Ensana Thermal Margaret Island day spa is on the same island but a different kind of day: a hotel spa with indoor thermal, swimming and recreational pools, saunas and towels included, at $43 on dates we checked and rated 4.3 from 559 reviews. It suits adults who want quiet. Day tickets depend on how busy the hotel is, and non-hotel guests cannot use it at all from 19 December 2026 to 10 January 2027. Our Margaret Island spa review →

Dandár in District IX is the cheapest day ticket we track at $25, a small bath mostly used by locals, open to 22:00 on Thursdays. It does not admit under-14s, so it is an option for a couple’s day without the kids. Széchenyi is the one first-time visitors picture, and a Széchenyi day ticket was from $52 on a weekday, but again only for ages 14 and over. "🌿💦 A wonderful experience at Palatinus Spa in Budapest! Relaxing in the thermal pools and enjoying the beautiful surroundings made this a memorable part of our trip. Definitely a great place to unwind and enjoy the Budapest spa experience! 🇭🇺❤️"

Rosabel United States

"Palatinus Spa and Pools is a wonderful place, very clean and well organized. We had a great time. The only flaw is that the management of the sunbeds is a bit chaotic: we found our towels on the ground to reserve the sunbeds. Overall, however, I highly recommend it!"

"I would recommend these baths. They are a younger vibe, for people of all ages. Good water slides , great wave pool, a large swimming pool for lane swimming. Plus several warm outdoor pools to relax and sit in. Clean and well maintained. Several eating places, for food and drinks, snacks. The changing facilities were clean. You receive an electronic band . Choose a changing cabin. A good size and clean , then the locker locks with your wrist band to open. Some by the pool lockers, but these are taken up quickly . Margaret Island is also beautiful to walk , with restaurants and activities . We had a lovely 4/5 hours. Inside facilities smaller pools, sauna. Not as good as outside, but popular. We went approximately 10.30 on a Sunday. Walked to Margaret Bridge , through the lovely gardens to the baths. Got a bolt back to our hotel ."
